Rithika Nadipalli: My interest in poetry writing began that fortuitous day, when I took a short break from revising in the library. I was bored from sitting still, so I explored the library. In the hind shelf of anthologies, I spotted one called ‘Poems From Many Cultures’ complied by Fiona Waters. The bright orange book stood out against the row of homogenous blue books. The title also promised me a multicultural literary landscape. Though I originally intended to advance my anthropology, I discovered more about universal humanitarian issues such as racism, resilience, hope and humour. After reading this brilliant book, I continued to read and eventually write more poems after graduation. I hope you enjoy reading my poems as much as I enjoyed writing them.
